Share your knowledge about Moruya and Narooma estuaries

Eurobodalla residents are being invited to get involved in the review of estuary plans for Wagonga Inlet and Mummaga Lake in Narooma, and the Moruya River.

Eurobodalla Council has engaged environmental management specialists, Salients, to bring the existing plans up to date and meet new legislative requirements.

Two drop-in sessions will be held in Narooma and Moruya next week for residents to share their local knowledge and have a say about future management options for the estuaries.

This could include things like funding to fence grazing land, restore native bushland or improve public access to the foreshores.

The community’s feedback will be incorporated into draft plans for each estuary, and residents will have another opportunity to comment when the draft plans are placed on public exhibition later this year.

Once adopted by Council, the plans will be used to guide environmental and weed management, access, and shoreline erosion. They will replace Council’s existing estuary management plans.

Residents are encouraged to drop in to talk to the consultants and council staff at the SAGE Market in Moruya next Tuesday and Narooma Library on Wednesday. There will not be a formal presentation at the drop-in sessions.

If you are unable to attend and would like to provide information or ask questions about estuaries, please call Council’s coastal and flood management planner Norm Lenehan on 4474 1374 before Friday 22 June.
