Narooma’s indoor swimming centre will be closed for 10 days while Eurobodalla Council undertakes important work to extend the life of the roof.
Starting Friday 15 June, contractors will re-screw the entire roof with stainless steel products, requiring the removal of all roof-mounted solar and hydraulic systems.
While the pool is closed, Council will take the opportunity to pressure clean the pool surrounds and improve drainage in the change rooms.
Council’s Recreation Services Manager Mark Upson said the roofing works were preventative and would save significant costs in the long term.
“Through our asset inspections we found the roof and screws are showing initial signs of corrosion,” he said.
“Taking 10 days to replace the screws and repairing corrosion now means we won’t need a much longer closure for a complete roof replacement in several years.
“The work will improve the swimming centre and make sure it meets the needs of the community for years to come.”
The pool will re-open at 6am on Monday 25 June.
