A few events regarding Operation Stay Alert June long weekend.
Bega
About 2.20pm on Monday the 11 June 2018, a 17 year old female driver was stopped by Bega Highway Patrol Police on the Princes Highway at Brogo after she was detected speeding.
During the stop the driver was subjected to a roadside drug test that returned a
positive indication to cannabis.
Police searched the vehicle and located a small amount of cannabis leaf and seeds.
The female was arrested and taken to Bega Police Station for secondary drug testing.
She was issued a 24 hour Notice of Prohibition from driving and infringement notices for the traffic offences.
Legal action to follow the results of laboratory testing.
Batemans Bay
About 1:50pm on Monday 11 June 2018, Batemans Bay Highway Police were conducting stationary speed enforcement on the Princes Highway, Moruya.
A Hyundai Sonata was stopped in Percy Davis Drive after braking harshly.
The driver was spoken to and police identified the vehicle was unregistered.
A subsequent search located a small amount of cannabis.
The driver was infringed for the traffic offences and issued a court attendance notice to attend Moruya Local Court 6 July 2018 for the drug possession.
