Introducing the Stars of Eurobodalla: Vicky and Steve Haberley

Over coming weeks we will be introducing you to the fantastic Stars of Eurobodalla who raising donations and will be Dancing for Cancer at the Tomakin Sports and Social Club on 21 July 2018. Introducing Vicky and Steve Haberley

Vicky is a local business owner and performer who specialises in volunteering her comedic skills for all fundraisers great and small. She is almost like a superhero, by day running her business Bayside Therapies in town, massaging and teaching yoga and by night donning her comedy lycra to raise thousands of dollars in a single bound. Since coming in to contact with many clients who have had or do have cancer, Vicky has expanded her massage skills to include Oncology massage, a very gentle technique to aid with pain relief and healing. Vicky has emceed fundraisers in The Bay, since moving here from Sydney in 2013, for foundations such as MND, Moruya Women’s Refuge, Luke Batty Foundation, White Ribbon Day, Relay for Life, Pink Ribbon Day, International Women's Day and The Cancer Council. She is often better known as "Kimmy" from her time spent as a Kath and Kim Impersonator with the The Foxy Hornbags. And in this capacity she has hosted and judged The Eurobodalla Dancing with the Stars. More recently she is dropping the super hero persona to become her every day unassuming self, and this is who will be performing at the 2018 Dancing with the Stars.

Steve Haberley is Vicky's husband by day and Fireman in Sydney by night. He is a passionate supporter of all the charities Vicky supports, sometimes by choice but always because of his kind and open nature. Steve has worked in Batemans Bay as a fireman from time to time and has a lot of local support with the local fire brigade and their families. Steve loves his sport and you will often find him surfing, body-boarding and riding his bike in all the gorgeous spots of the Eurobodalla. Steve has volunteered with Disability Surfing Australia and hopes to be a volunteer driver in the future with The Cancer Council.

When Vicky and Steve first met, they took swing dancing classes and were terrible. Things have not improved much but they hope their natural enthusiasm and comedic efforts will provide some light relief on the night. They have some experience on the stage having appeared in the local production of Annie. Steve was the policeman who arrested the kidnapper Vicky each night. Their dancing is inspired by Dirty Dancing the movie which was also the inspiration for their bridal waltz five years ago, this is one act not to be missed. They are hoping to raise lots of money by auctioning of their skills, so if you want a massage, a yoga class or a private paddle-boarding class, start bidding!
