Work on a new roundabout on George Bass Drive at Tomakin began on Monday 18 June.
The four-leg roundabout will replace the existing Tomakin Road and George Bass Drive intersection and provide a direct connection to Sunpatch Parade.
Funded by the Australian Government’s Building Our Future program, the $3.5 million project will increase traffic efficiency, reduce congestion in the area and improve road and pedestrian safety, with new paths, pedestrian crossing points and extra lighting.
Preliminary clearing works to prepare for the realignment of a 150-metre stretch of Tomakin Road began earlier this month.
Motorists are asked to slow down and take extra care around the site, and be aware that traffic control arrangements will be modified as construction progresses.
Tomakin residents will be advised about the construction by letter, and Council’s website has up to date information about the project at www.esc.nsw.gov.au/currentworks
