Fishing Australia is our country’s longest running Television fishing program. It is also the WIN Network’s flagship program.
Host Rob Paxevanos filmed the very first episode of Fishing Australia in the Eurobodalla 18 years ago, and has returned many times since...but this time his team has captured what he believes is his best episode yet.
“Of course there is the brilliant fishing , such as bream, flathead and jewfish - caught from houseboat, kayak and the beach...but this time there’s so much more.” Says Rob.
“Besides teaching sustainable fishing , part of my job is to showcase what regions have to offer. And when looking for ideas I was lucky enough to engage with Mayor Liz Inness and the Eurobodalla Shire Council Tourism unit - I used their expertize to find out what best attracts people to the region. As a result we filmed the areas natural beauty, bush walking, award winning oysters, seafood restaurants and Mogo Zoo to name a few. I have to say I had as much fun filming these as I did the fishing, and it’s great to see everyone can enjoy the nature and fresh local fish even if they don’t wet a line!”
Fishing wise Rob covers a range of fishing scenarios from family/first time levels up to high end challenges for the more experienced angler

Places covered include is the Clyde River - thanks to it being a protected water way with great access across all seasons. Furthermore, this large pristine system is fishing increasingly good thanks to the on flowing effects of the removal of nets when the Marine Park was implemented. Not only is the Clyde revered by anglers, campers and nature lovers - Rob and many of the locals are saying it’s fishing the best it has in their lifetime. Some of the flathead are huge , and the mulloway fishing is exceptional.
In the mix is a visit to local Batemans Bay Beaches for a flatty or two, and of course the beautiful surf beaches as far south as Tilba Tilba.
There’s also a catch up with Adam Martin and team to look at the South Coast Mighty Fishing Bonanza...an new event that is set to grow into one of the biggest in Australia.
