Throughout July RSPCA Eurobodalla will be joining with the Animal Welfare League to help locals desex their pets.
The RSPCA takes in around 160,000 animals every year, and many of these are the result of unplanned breeding.
Unwanted puppies and kittens can suffer from starvation and disease, and perpetuate the cycle of over-breeding once they reach puberty. Two cats over two years can produce up to 20,000 offspring.
There are also health benefits from desexing your pet. Desexed animals:
will generally live longer
have a lower risk of developing certain types of cancers and infections
are less likely to roam
are less likely to display anti-social behaviours
are often more calm and affectionate.
For July, Desexing Month, RSPCA and AWL will provide discount vouchers to reduce the cost of desexing your pet, using the vet of your choice. The vouchers are valid for three months.
Ring RSPCA on 0429 488 200 from 1 July to secure your voucher.
