Moruya RSL goes with president

FIFTEEN of Moruya RSL Sub-branch’s 70 members attended the July monthly meeting at Moruya Memorial Hall on Tuesday afternoon. Those members discussed ways and means of encouraging more members to attend sub-branch meetings but came to no definite decisions.

Members were, though, told of a new application for membership and approved the admission of Paul Barkley who served in the CMF from 1968 to 1970.

Secretary Barry Stephens read out a letter from president Harold Barkley who has been unable to attend recent meetings due to injury. Mr Barkley said he would like to be back and sought leave of absence. Members willingly granted his wish.

The meeting was told of the need to pay more attention to the NSW RSL Constitution due to a tightening up of scrutiny as a result of ongoing investigations into alleged activities at Sydney Headquarters. They were also told that Queensland RSL was also under investigation
