Bay Tigers Firsts and Reserves secure solid weekend wins

Above: For the first time in 13 years 1st Grade made the semis and had a win, the boys continue the march in the finals against Moruya at Moruya this weekend

A great result for the Batemans Bay Tigers First Grade team on Saturday night. A long way from home, the men took to Pambula Sporting Complex ready for a very tight game. The Tigers finished 5th and took on 4th place Merimbula Pambula Bulldogs at their home ground. The Tigers backed each other all night and although the Bulldogs came back at them, the Tigers roared or maybe that was the crowd, and kept going forward and supporting each other.

The 2018 Tigers are a team and play as one, instead of relying on a few players shining and the team stayed tough and tight and came away with another amazing win.

The First grade will continue in the semis next week against Moruya in another do or die game.

The Under 18 Tigers bounced out of the sheds and had scored 4 tries before the 14th minute of the game.

Constant support play proved too good for Cooma.

The game got a little fiery when Cooma got frustrated but our young Tigers kept their cool and carried on for a 42 to 16 win.

The Bay U8s will play against Eden next weekend .

Unfortunately, the Bay Tigerettes bowed out of the semis after a disappointing loss to Cooma. The girls have shown so much improvement over the season and should be proud of their achievements.

A big contingent of Bay supporters made the long trip down the coast. Special mention has to be made of the First grade captain coach's family travelling from Griffith for the games. They are now organising to return for next week's games.

A huge thanks to all players who stayed or came down early to support the other grades.

In a poll judged by sports editors up and down the coast, five Batemans Bay Tigers have been named in the group 16 team of the year.

Youngster Mitch Hockey was named as one of the best wingers in the league.

Luke Farmer named as halfback, Peter Lett one of the best forwards in group 16. Michael Tadich named as hooker and Mason Harrison the lock forward for the best group 16 team.
