Not a big ask compared to Batemans Bay's $26m promise: Narooma looks for improved facilities at


Bill Smyth Oval Progress Committee member Graham Peachey met with Mike Kelly, Federal Member for Eden Monaro, Linda Voltz,NSW Shadow Minister for Sport and Labor's candidate for the NSW seat of Bega, Leanne Atkinson to discuss the issues around securing funding for improvements and amenities at Bill Smyth Oval.

Mr Peachey handed over the submission his committee had made to the council during consultation on its draft Recreation and Open Spaces Strategy.

The submission includes a new full-size rugby league ground adjacent to the existing Australian rules football oval, an upgrade of the clubhouse and improved meeting rooms, canteen and kitchen, more appropriate facilities for men and women, lighting around the new rugby league oval, an additional netball court and change rooms and expanded seating.

There was much discussion around the need for the amenities to be on a par with those at Hanging Rock that not only cater for male and female change rooms but also have four change rooms available at one time to facilitate multiple events.
