Councillors haven’t for some reason got the public message yet about the Rural Lands Strategy or Rural LEP . The message is very clear though. The shire’s residents or communities don’t understand what the hell is going on and why. Our Councillors should be holding best practice public meetings to explain to the area's residents and others why the review is occurring and, when it’s over and resolved with the State Government, what the financial benefits will be to all the Shires Residents and Ratepayers. At the present time the review and any outcomes seem likely to be associated with the financial survival of the Council and those employed in the Council.
The review and present planned out come is more to do with the financial survival of the Council into the future. The Government agencies who’ve been involved in Council and Councillor briefings are also concerned about financial survival and highly paid executive positions in the system themselves. Development consolidation and living planning has been occurring in NSW for a long time. For some it’s more about employment security at the expense of residents of Local Council areas. Councils have become Corporations that are unaffordable all over the country. With an ageing population dependant on regulated incomes and cash flows the local council system is doomed to financial failure. Local Councils are fast becoming financial burdens on residents all over the country.
