Dust off your helmet for Bike Week

Dust off your helmet and pump up your tyres – it’s time to get on your bike to celebrate Bike Week.

Riders of all abilities and ages have two events to choose from this year, both on and off the beaten track.

On Saturday 22 September Eurobodalla Council will host a Clyde River Bike Ride along the Clyde River Foreshore in Batemans Bay.

There will be two rides to choose from starting from 10am; a kids’ ride from Corrigans to Hanging Rock and back guided by EuroBUG members, and a return adults’ ride to Lions Park.

There will be plenty of giveaways, free bike safety checks and a barbecue after the ride and the first 10 registrations from 9am receive a free helmet. For more information visit Council’s website www.esc.nsw.gov.au/events

On Sunday 23 September riders can head off-road at the Bust a Loop MTB Skills Day at Deep Creek Dam, hosted by the Eurobodalla Cyclists group.

The day provides a perfect opportunity for beginners to experience the thrills of mountain biking, with plenty of loan bikes available. There will be guided trail rides with experienced riders, skills workshops for beginners and intermediates, a downhill time challenge and a sausage sizzle and coffee van to refuel.

For more information or to book a demo ride or workshop, contact Angus Murphy on 4474 3978.

With two great events on offer this Bike Week, Council’s Recreation Development Coordinator Matt Neason encouraged residents to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.

“Our community bike rides always have a great turnout and fun atmosphere and we’re hoping the two events this year will be no exception,” he said.

“Now that the weather is warming up, it’s the perfect opportunity to get the treadly out of the shed and rediscover the fun of cycling. It’s fun, free and great for your health and the environment.”

Details for both events are on Council’s website www.esc.nsw.gov.au/events
