Statement from Mayor Liz Innes
Ann Sudmalis has been a dedicated representative of our community. Her commitment to the people of the Gilmore electorate and the south coast is genuine.
She is an excellent colleague to have in our corner as we strive at all three levels of government to advance our shire.
As Eurobodalla Mayor, I have worked with Ann on many projects and we have seen her deliver the funding we need to achieve game-changing outcomes for our shire - Moruya Airport redevelopment, shellfish hatchery, Beach Road/Vesper Street improvements, Tuross turnoff upgrade, and the Tomakin roundabout among others.
Ann’s door is always open and she has been instrumental in introducing us to Federal ministers and staffers who can help us secure vital funding and investment for our region.
It is a sad day to see her announce her retirement from politics at the next Federal election under such unpleasant circumstances. To that end, I urge people to be kinder to one another. Don’t attack the person, concentrate on the issues.
I look forward to our remaining time working together for the region we both love, and I wish Ann every happiness in her life beyond politics.
