The Robo Rebels FRC Team 5988 from Narooma High School are part of FIRST Australia, coordinators of the biggest robotics for sport organization in the world. “Our long term vision is to create a technology hub in South East NSW where current and emerging businesses, schools, education providers and community experts collaborate on projects that create employment and training opportunities needed to retain young people in our local area”, said team mentor Christina Potts. The Robo Rebels aim to be financially independent. In an effort to self- fund their competition expenses they are holding school holiday Robo Camps at Narooma High School this October School Holidays. Fresh from their success at the ACT State Championship of the Robo-Cup, student leaders will lead the fun and challenging camps.
The 2 hour camps are suited to Primary School students from 10 years and over. They will run from 10am until 12 noon on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd October and will cost $25 to be paid on the day. Bookings are to be made on the Eventbrite Site. Google ‘Robo Camps Narooma”. Robo Camps are a unique and innovative way to explore the new world of STEM (integration of Science Technology Engineering and Maths). The camps are run by experienced student leaders and teachers and provide an exciting introduction to the world of programmable robotics. LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3® robots enable participants to learn the basics of robot design, programming and the introduction to sensors as they build robots capable of reacting to their environment and making simple decisions. Each workshop culminates in an exciting challenge where you get to pit your own robot against others. For more information please contact Gayle at Narooma High School Ph: 44764377
