Improved business opportunities in Moruya and community education about plastic bag use were major achievements of the last 12 months says Jude Manahan who was re-elected as to head the Moruya Business Chamber at the AGM this week.

Key achievements over the last year include launching a campaign to make Moruya plastic bag free, supporting Moruya’s retail sector and exploring opportunities to create a business incubator to assist new entrepreneurs.
Ms Manahan said the health and energy of Moruya’s businesses was underlined at the recent Eurobodalla Business Awards where the business of the year award went to Moruya based Yumaro Industries with other awards going to Melissa Marshall of Marshall Buses, Moruya Waterfront Hotel and Aussie Embroidery and Workwear.
“The chamber will continue to work away at its initiatives such as the renewal of the town clock, street banners, establishment of a Moruya business hub, improvements to town facilities, buy local programs and the visitor centre,” she said.
