Swimmers and families will get an early start to the swimming season this year, with Moruya and Batemans Bay Pools opening on Monday 1 October.
Councillors on Tuesday voted to open the pools one week earlier than scheduled following requests from the community.
It means the Moruya and Batemans Bay pools will be open from the start of the October school holidays through to the end of the April 2019 school holiday period. Narooma Swimming Centre is open year-round, except for a short annual winter closure for maintenance.
This year all three pools will offer group fitness classes as well as swim coaching services for juniors through to adults. Coaching sessions include stroke correction, general fitness, and training for pool, surf and triathlon competitions.
Eurobodalla Aquatics Manager Brad Patterson said enrolments for learn-to-swim and group fitness classes at the outdoor pools would begin Monday 1 October and classes would start Monday 15 October.
“The earlier opening is a great result for families and for water sports enthusiasts in Batemans Bay and Moruya,” he said.
“Triathlon and swim clubs will get an early start to their season and families will be able to take advantage of the pools throughout the school holiday.
“The weather has been great, and our outdoor pools are heated, so it is a great time for people to get back into the pool.”
