Coila Lake Sailing Resumes Sunday

Off–the-beach sailing will resume at Coila Lake this coming long weekend. Batemans Bay Sailing Club will be running a 14-day series over spring and summer, with two races on each day, weather permitting.

Coila is a great location for sailing, as it enjoys sea breezes but it is rarely open to the sea so is not subjected to open water issues. Last year most boats were catamarans, and the Woolnough family cleaned up the awards sailing the Maricat Chili. There is a rumour that a former champion will be returning this season to terminate their reign. Monohulls are also catered for, and indeed have been the dominant division in past years, so more monohulls would be most welcome.

Entrants should come to the foreshore in front of the Kyla Park Recreation Hall, Tuross Head this Sunday 20 September to register from 11:00am. Briefing is scheduled for 11:30am for a first race starting about 12:00 noon. This will be followed by a lunch break ashore, then a second race followed by a sociable sausage sizzle.

More information on the series, including entry fees and schedule for the season, are in the Notice of Race on website https://www.bbsc.org.au/Off-the-Beach.
