NSW Greens MP Dawn Walker has written an official letter to Gabrielle Upton and Paul Toole MP, Ministers for Environment and Forestry to request an urgent intervention at the Corunna State Forest in order to protect the Masked Owl that has been captured on one of the many hidden cameras bought into the forest to document activities by both fauna and humans. The Corunna protesters, who have now availed evidence of the Masked Owl to Forestry Corp and the EPA, have not received a response from Andrew Constance MP on the issue. It is understood that Corunna residents have been waiting since August for a meeting with Andrew Constance and all questions remained unanswered. A member of the community observed on hearing of the letter "If the Ministers for Environment and for Forestry ignore the Green's official request will they find themselves in contravention of their own legislation." The Corunna issue is now building to a state wide issue and is being coupled with the many protests in the north of the state where there had been widespread deforestation. Closer by logging in Mogo State Forest and in the area of Dunns Creek have been cited as examples of Forestry Corp being indifferent to their plans with works going well beyond the bounds of their agreements and of community expectations.
