Sick of reading last week's fishing report in the local rags Here is the latest (12th Oct 2018) Tackle World Moruya Fishing report courtesy of Graham and his team Moruya and Tuross River
The flathead bite has been great in both systems this past week. The backwaters, Ryans creek and the sand flats upstream of Moruya hospital have all produced fish on both bait and soft plastics. In Tuross flathead have been caught from the highway bridge all the way down to Turlinjah. Lures of choice being the new gulp twin tail minnow in nuclear chicken and Daiwa double clutch.
The hole in the wall at Moruya is holding some nice bream and luderick. Fresh baits like nippers and beach worms are working best but frozen baits such as worms and pipi's are also working well.
The snags around the highway bridge at Tuross are also holding good size luderick, again fresh baits like squirt worms are working best.
Rocks and Beaches
Salmon are on the bite at Moruya break wall with many making the most of this great bite over the school holidays. Salted Pillies are working best for bait on our store made paternoster surf rigs. Others spinning Arma brass twisties have also been very successful.
Squid have been patchy but a few are still coming in off the rocks at both south Broulee and Moruya heads. A few sizable groper have also been landed in the same areas using cunji as bait.
Offshore
Reports of snapper just of Moruya from 20 metres all the way out to 70 metres of water. The Jackson gallop range of micro jigs are working great at the 20 metre mark. Out a bit wider the heavier range of entice jigs are working well.
All the typical reef species are biting on the reefs including some good size nannygai and morwong.
Keep an eye out for the new range of REEL BRAND clothing coming soon!! This clothing range is exceptional and we’re sure you’ll all enjoy the quality and work gone into the development of this clothing range!
