Eurobodalla Triathlete Daniel Bebe has completed the dream of all Ironman triathletes, to race in the World Ironman Championship held on the iconic Kona (Hawaii) course, and to come in under the magic 10 hour mark.
Daniel competed the 3.8km open water swim in 1:05:37, the gruelling 180km bike leg in an amazing 5:01:14, and the marathon run in 3:42:48. His total race time was 9:57:15. This was only a few minutes slower than his qualifying time from the Ironman Port Macquarie race, and taking into account the heat and wind on the Kona course it shows the dedication Dan has had during his preparation. Dan placed 114th in his age division, and 692 overall, from some 2472 athletes who started the race. More than 70 failed to finish, and a number of others were disqualified for breaking race rules.
Dan took his family with him for support, and to experience the most revered triathlon in the world.
