Whittakers Creek update

Following an accident overnight on the Princes Hwy at Whittakers Creek Rd, south of Bodalla at approximately 0730 this morning, 8/11/18, Moruya's P384s was called to assist P398, T398 both from Narooma, H217 from Batemans Bay and H219 from Bega, (other units had been on scene since 04:30), to an accident which involved a large amount of diesel entering the waterways.

Hydrocarbon booms were used to contain the spill from going further up or down stream whilst a skimmer pump was used to separate the water from diesel.

Units will remain on scene for sometime until council, waterways and EPA are happy it has been cleaned up.

The accident was the result of a truck coming across a large tree across the road on a blind corner and having no other option but to take evasive action, the great work of the driver ensured his own safety and of any other motorist.

report ends... Photos below from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 384 Moruya
