An update on the BBay bridge project

Andrew Constance MP was in Batemans Bay giving an update of the Batemans Bay and Nelligen bridge projects.

In launching this video Mr Constance said "The beginning of construction for our new bridge at Batemans Bay is just around the corner, with work set to ramp up in the next couple of months."

"This will be the biggest infrastructure build in our region's history, creating hundreds of new jobs - and opening up the gateway to the Far South Coast by getting the traffic moving."

Work on temporary project offices for the Batemans Bay Bridge replacement project planned from Monday 19 November In all the NSW Government has committed $274 million to construct the Batemans Bay Bridge replacement project. John Holland Group is delivering the early work contract and will start work on Monday 19 November to build temporary project offices on the site of the former bowling club in the northern section of Mackay Park. This will include the demolition of the existing buildings. The site will be used for a community information centre, site offices, car parking, workshops and storage areas for materials including equipment, soil and gravel. Work will include installing fencing and environmental controls, carrying out earth work and demolishing the bowling club, constructing site offices and parking facilities and installing storage facilities. The work schedule Standard hours of work during the demolition and construction of the site will be between 7am and 6pm, Monday and Friday, and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. John Holland may also work on the site outside of standard working hours and will notify the community in advance if this is required. Work on the site will be completed early 2019 and the site will be used for the duration of the project. Community information centre The community information centre will be located within the site and be open to the public later this year. The centre will provide community members with the opportunity to find out more about the project and speak with the project team. The centre will include a visitor car parking and pedestrian and wheelchair access. The room will be open Monday to Friday, from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm from December 2018. How will the demolition and construction work affect you? There may be some noise and disruption associated by the vehicles and machines required for this work including trucks, rollers, mobile cranes, excavators, power generators, hand tools and light vehicles making every effort to minimise impact to the local community and motorists in the area It is noted that the benefits of the site includes convenient access to the information centre for community members, reduced heavy vehicle movements on the highway and on local roads compared to alternate locations and preparation of the site for any future redevelopment of the northern precinct of Mackay Park. Traffic changes There may be some temporary traffic changes during the work to ensure safety of workers and motorists.

Beach Road Upgrade Works by Council Eurobodalla Shire Council is carrying out major upgrades to Beach Road including the intersection of Mackay Park and the Princes Highway near the project offices. This work will be taking place from June 2018 to June 2019. The RMS will work closely with council to minimise disruptions.
