Moruya's new Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre (the BAS) is taking shape

The frame is up, some walls are in, the program’s set and it’s all systems go for the new Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, under construction adjoining Moruya Library.

It is just 100 days to go until the official opening of the centre affectionately known as ‘the Bas’.

The Bas will serve as a major platform for local artists and touring shows, with a professional standard 100m2 exhibition space featuring sound-rated moveable walls, as well as videoconferencing facilities, kitchen facilities and additional parking.

Council’s Creative Arts Coordinator Indi Carmichael said the centre’s annual program offered something for everyone.

“We’ve lined up a fantastic program that features a great mix of home-grown talent, visitor exhibitions and returning favourites,” she said.

“We’ll see the return of the popular ReVive Art Prize in 2019, and best of all the opening exhibition will be the prestigious Basil Sellers Art Prize.

“We have received a record number of entries for the Basil Sellers Art Prize from across NSW and we’re really excited to host the exhibition at the Bas’s official opening in February.”

Locals and visitors keen to keep abreast of all things ‘the Bas’ can sign on to be members of the centre and receive exclusive offers, discounts and events, or follow the Bas on Instagram @thebascentre
