Join the Western Sydney Youth Orchestra on their South Coast tour as this ensemble of talented young people share the joy of music. This concert is a wonderful way to introduce friends, family and the wider community to classical music. The Western Sydney Youth Orchestra is touring the South East NSW, performing and presenting workshops in Pambula, Bodalla, and Bermagui
This tour will be the third time the Sydney Youth Orchestras has visited the region in 2018. This tour includes Meet The Orchestra concerts for young children (aged 2-8), Classical Discovery concerts to introduce members of the general public to orchestral music, and workshops for local musicians. The South East Hub provides educational experiences for young musicians and community members alike through performances that introduce audiences to the orchestra, with a focus on explaining the instrumental groups and the formation of the ensemble. The South East Hub also provides young accomplished local musicians the opportunity to engage with our touring ensemble; a chance to sit in, rehearse and perform under the baton of SYO conductor and esteemed music educator, James Pensini. “We are so excited to partner with WSYO in this initiative and welcome them to Nature’s Concert Hall - an exquisite home of music, nature and shared creativity. Presenting opportunities like this to our region’s young people is a strong and real commitment by our organisation” - Four Winds Artistic Director, James Crabb. In addition to having weekly rehearsals and instrumental tutorials each term, WSYO frequently collaborates with dance companies and cultural groups, makes festival appearances, tours and takes the stage at special events around Western Sydney. Under the leadership of respected music educator and conductor, James Pensini, Western Sydney musicians focus on the essentials of orchestral playing and performance, tackling repertoire ranging from the Baroque to Romantic periods. About SYO State SYO’s South Coast Hub at Four Winds is part of the SYO State Program, an outreach project that increases participation and engagement in orchestral music across New South Wales. Through this program, SYO aims to identify and nurture talented young musicians across the State and establish stronger community engagement and relationships. The South Coast Hub follows the establishment of our Central West Hub in Dubbo, NSW in 2016.
