The Long Beach Fire Brigade are pleased with their new automatic Fire Danger Rating Sign. As most residents would have noticed the sign has been moved to get more sun light and is now working at its optimum capacity.
Karen Vickers, Secretary/Treasurer of the Brigade told the Beagle “Our community is very lucky to have this sign, thanks to a grant from the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club”. “The new sign has an automated hand, which means the crew can keep the community up to date on the latest fire conditions at the touch of a button which is important for immediacy and advising the community as soon as possible”.
“We would also like to thank Brad (photo above) from Adco International who not only supplied the equipment to automate the sign but drove from Melbourne to install it. Although they provide FDR signs in other states this is the first one they have supplied in NSW”. “As we are now in bush fire season we would ask that all in our community have their Bush Fire Plan in place, and be ready to enact it if it is necessary, and also in the case of a fire listen to emergency services, and act on their advice. Remember PREPARE, ACT, SURVIVE” The Long Beach community is encouraged to follow their Brigade on Facebook for community communications - you can find Long Beach Fire Brigade page HERE
