Last Wednesday saw 25 passionate fishers assembled for a day of learning at the Batemans Bay Kids Fishing Workshop
NSW Fisheries runs four hour kids fishing workshops for eight-14 year olds. The children learn how fish responsibly in a safe and fun environment. The NSW DPI fishing workshops also includes fun lessons on fishing techniques, information on NSW fishing rules, best methods to maximise released fish survival and a practical fishing session in a safe location. At $40 per child the cost per child included quality rod and reel, shirt, hat, tackle box, show bag-all to take home. NSW DPI fishing workshops are run with the assistance of the Fishcare Volunteers and are supported by funds from the Recreational Fishing Trusts.

Above: Adam The participants had a talk from the RMS Boating Safety Officer, Richard Hanley and Chris from the Bay Marine Park All in all 25 kids along with 7 Fishcare Volunteer managed to have a great day with catches of lots of small tailor, yellowtail and toadys caught, along with 2 flounder and a Whiting. All were released.
