There is a bit of fun going on in social media with people looking back ten years. The Beagle, being only 2 years old can only look at where it came from ten years ago. Ten Years ago the Bay Post and Narooma News were squabbling over who had control of Tuross Head for news and advertising and at the end of the day neither bothered to venture into the town to cover local news. It was obvious that Tuross needed its own newspaper and the community was being left out in the dark. On October 1st 2008 the Tuross Head Weekly Giant was born.
Much like the current Beagle Weekender it was an emailed newsletter that went out each week, covering everything you wanted to know about Tuross Head. Those who didn't have a computer could read one of seven copies printed and distributed around the town in plastic sleeved folders at cafes, the club and doctors surgery. In time the Tuross Head Weekly Giant became the Tuross Giant and its readership grew. The Tuross Giant was published without fail for eight years, all from a laptop, and often from a remote destination overseas. The "newsdesk" and scoops for the Giant was via email and a network was established that kept local news flowing.

Move ten years forward and we now have The Beagle, set up as an online FREE news website, to service the entire Eurobodalla using the very simple model created a decade before. And sitting behind it is one guy with a laptop... not much has changed there. It is fun to look back today over the very first editions of the Tuross Head Weekly Giant and see how basic they were in layout and graphics. From there to now.... an evolution Below: from ten years ago: an opportunity to see old mate Ian Hockey and further below sisters Deb and Robsie in aprons to remember the days of Malibu Mex and the famous waterside Red Box pizzas with the dolphins going by at sunset. (Three were trapped in Tuross Lake for many months)
LOL - as they say "eat ya heart out"
