Council plan to sell community reserve at Malua Bay: Community says NO

A Community Action Meeting has been called in response to proposed Action Item N30 of the Eurobodalla Shire Council Recreation and Open Space Strategy 2018 which states 'Rationalise Lot 1110, DP 236653 (35-37 Illabunda Drive, • Malua Bay).

This land is currently considered undeveloped open space and Council is investigating reclassification, subdivision and sale for residential purposes. Anyone interested in protecting this green space is invited to meet: On the space itself (Cnr Illabunda Drive and Merinda Street, Pretty Point Bay, Malua Bay) Sunday 27th January 2019 4.00pm (Sausage sizzle provided) Please bring your family, drinks and chairs The purpose of the meeting will be to inform everyone of the proposed review and to seek advice and input from everyone, share suggestions to retain the green space's recreational status and develop an urgent action plan. Please register your interest or feedback by emailing Gill Fergie at gwenandgill@gmail.com

EDITORS NOTE: Recently Council did the same thing in Tuross Head citing that a ocean side reserve was not, in their opinion, being used by the community. It was argued by the Tuross Head Progress Association that the reserve had been dedicated for Public recreation at the time of subdivision and belonged to the community. It was a visual open green space and even though it didn't have any public facility on it such as a chair or bubbler IT BELONGED t the community.

The Council IGNORED the community pleas and went ahead selling the block for more than $500,000 The land at Malua Bay was most likely dedicated as a Public Reserve as Matter of condition by the council at the time. At the time this block would have commanded a premium return for the developer. NOW this council wants to sell this premium block with the deception that it is not "seen to be used". Tuross Head Progress Association members and residents remain DISGUSTED to this day by the subterfuge of this Council in the way they manipulated the theft of a Public Reserve for their own revenue.

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
