The Montague Vising Artists 2019 season opens on Saturday, February 16 with a concert by the Inventi Ensemble from Melbourne, fresh from the Melbourne Recital Hall Local Heroes series and the Mornington Peninsula Summer Music Festival. Featuring Ben Opie oboe, Harry Bennetts on violin, William Clark on viola and Paul Zabrowarny on cello, they will be playing chamber music by Mozart, Rossini, Britten and more.
Inventi Ensemble is a dynamic new chamber ensemble run by Artistic Directors Ben Opie (oboe) and Melissa Doecke (flute), drawing together Australia’s finest soloists and chamber musicians. Internationally, Inventi musicians have performed at the BBC Proms, London’s Southbank, with San Francisco’s Ensemble Parrallele and Magik*Magik, as well as at music festivals in the UK, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Prague, Italy and the USA.
Defying stereotypes, Inventi do everything. They are equally at home premiering works at a new music festival, performing in Australia’s finest concert halls and chamber music series, or playing Bach from a 3-tonne truck in a pop-up venue, and introducing new Australian music to young children in a library storytime project. Passionate about regularly performing Australian music, Inventi regularly commission new works from Australian composers. In addition to this they mark their own Inventi stamp on traditional works including their own arrangements of works including Rossini's Barber of Seville Overture and Prokofiev's Classical Symphony. Inventi released their debut album “Inventi Ensemble 1” in early 2016 to critical acclaim.
