* The Young Adult theatre group spent a couple of hours this week exploring movement-based techniques from frantic tempo to dynamic stillness, to help actors develop the ability to listen with the entire body and to take in and use everything around them. This enables actors to create a performance that is part of a collective - invaluable in building the connections of an ensemble.
* The Bay Theatre Players’ next play exploration will be Angela Betzein’s contemporary Australian play Children of the Black Skirt on Wednesday, February 20, at 7pm in the Playhouse Foyer at 33 Gregory Street Batemans Bay.
A gothic fairytale for young people. Three lost children discover an abandoned orphanage in the bush and learn a history of Australia through the spirits of children who have lived there, from convict times, through to World War Two, the Stolen Generation and beyond. An evocative play which explores history, reconciliation and the power of storytelling, Children of the Black Skirt has toured widely through schools and is a classroom favourite with teachers and students alike.
