Low Scores Win the Day at Vets Stroke and Putts


With the dust storm and light overnight rain having cleared 57 players registered for the popular Stroke &Putts event. Outright winner on the day was Greg Thornton with an 8 under par score of 27 strokes. Greg was followed home by Vets captain Ian Miller on 29, Chris Wratten on 31 and Denis Benger on 32. Balls or chocolates went to Teri Swanbury, Paul Pereira and Ken Brown on 33 (Ken having parred the course off the stick), Richard Wharton, Peter Macdonald and Des Jackson on 34, followed home by Ross Davidson, Graham Moore, Herb Muriwai, Jeanette Miller, Barry Hoban, John Cox, Les Johanson, Wal Williams and Richard Kelly all with 35. Ken Brown narrowly won the putting competition with 10 putts from the 9 holes played.

This week's Bradman award was won by one of newer members Shirley Quinlan, the handicapper needing to lift his game! Nearest the pins were won by Steve Johnston on the 4th, Paul Pereira on the 6th, and Teri Swanbury and Paul Pereira on the 7th. Making it a double, Teri Swanbury also took out the Accuracy award.
