8th Broulee Bay to Breakers Swim this Sunday March 10th

The 8th Hotondo Homes Broulee Bay to Breakers Ocean Swim kicks off at 9am this Sunday 10 March.

“It’s a beautiful swim and a terrific community event,” said Swim Coordinator Gary Pettigrove. “ The 1.4km course goes from Broulee Island and around the headland to south Broulee Beach. We expect around 350 competitors in the 18 senior and open categories. We also have a shorter 500m swim for junior entrants.

Broulee’s Wendy Dunn, 79 years young, is competing for the 8th time. “ I expect to finish“ Wendy said confidently “and in any case the tail end of the field is always looked after very well, we’re not bait fish by any means. “

Prizes include $300 cash for open winners and $100 for the fastest in the senior categories but according to Gary, “ the best thing is just the fun and the shared satisfaction of swimming in a particularly pretty bit of ocean with a nice mob of people.”
