Newcomer Shirley Quinlan Beats The Field

A very strong field of 62 players registered for the Par event, including visitor Steve Gardner from near Brisbane who had come to check Tuross out. Relative newcomer Shirley Quinlan took the honours with a fine +6, followed home by Ian Manton and Ian Wratten on +5 and Ted Quinlan with +4 on count back.

Balls or chocolates went to Tim Starr (recently celebrating his 94th birthday) and Stephen Crossling with +4, Robin Green, Warren Hodder and Mike Birks with +3, Greg Smith, Neal Watson and Steve Johnston with +2, and finally Bruce Ware, Steve Swanbury, Noel Downie, Ron Hanlon, Margaret Downey, Ross Davidson and Bruce Martin all with +1.

For the first time on record the Bradman award went to our best golfer Ken Brown, obviously struggling with the handicap assigned by the handicapper!

Nearest the Pins went to Herb Muriwai on the 4th, Len Rogers on the 6th, and Annette Manton and Frank Pomfret on the 7th. The Accuracy award was taken out by Shirley Quinlan.
