12-month caravan relay arriving at Narooma

For those eager to live life a little off-script, caravan holidays are the perfect way to see Australia.

The Reeve family are doing exactly that, and 14-months ago Adam and Mia, along with kids Jett and Skye, packed up their lives and began a trip exploring the country.

Now, they have temporarily swapped their 4WD and caravan for a Winnebago motorhome and are preparing to participate in the ‘Follow the Sun Relay’, wherein a Winnebago Motorhome is completing a 12-month lap of Australia.

The relay involves different people undertaking different legs of a journey, with the Reeve family’s trip taking them from Melbourne to Sydney via a number of townships in between.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what it’s like to cruise around in the motorhome; that will be a new experience for us,” Mia said.

“We did a big trip in our 20s and always said we’d love to do it with the kids someday. We like the fact that when we’re caravanning and camping, it’s a chance to disconnect from normal everyday life and spend more time enjoying the simple things together.”

“We like going on bush walks, snorkeling, making campfires and just exploring an area. We’re so happy that we could do this.”

“The area we’re going to for Follow the Sun is actually one of our contenders for where we want to move to (in the future). Adam and I both grew up in Sydney but we both just love spending time out of cities that we figured we should find somewhere else to live, somewhere a bit slower and quieter.”

The family are now about to arrive in Narooma! They will be in town from March 9-12, staying at BIG4 Narooma East HP.

The Follow the Sun Relay is a collaborative effort between Dometic, Winnebago and Caravan Industry Association of Australia.

The relay began on Saturday, June 9 at the Queensland Caravan Camping and Touring Supershow in Brisbane, where the first explorers began their trip.

Now, drivers have taken the Winnebago around Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, South Australia and is now making its way through Victoria.
