Gifted to the community by international marathon runner Robert De Patella the idea for the sculpture came from his enjoyment of his early morning runs along the Clyde River at dawn and his participation in the weekly ParkRun at Corrigans Cove The statues were craned into place just before dawn and well anchored to the pavement to ensure they are safe to be climbed on. As per Council requirements the statues are wind tested to ensure they meet the new requirements for public safety and are bronze with a polymer patina to ensure they will not be affected by salt water. The community are now being asked to give each of the runners a name. Submissions can be made to Council ... Subject: Suggested name for Batemans Bay Runners.
