Eurobodalla Council have announced that they are looking for a Local Hero for 2019 and want to recognise residents who make outstanding contributions to the community; people who give up their own time for the benefit of others and for the community as a whole.
The nominated local hero or volunteer may have provided outstanding service in any field; for example sports, community service, health, education, arts, the environment. They may have excelled in quality, quantity or value of service to the community or they may be responsible for individual acts of compassion, generosity, bravery, ingenuity, or professional accomplishments. Our Beagle inbox has received several warm and supportive emails already asking if The Beagle would accept being nominated. The Beagle, being an actual newspaper, can't be nominated however as the editor, I am happy to accept any nomination on behalf of all those who make The Beagle happen. And there are many who make up The Beagle. The Beagle is firstly comprised of the wonderful supportive sponsors and donors who help cover the considerable running costs of insurances, software and website overheads. Then there are our much enjoyed contributors and the swag of publicity officers representing the fabulous diversity of communities, groups and interests. They, along with our thousands of readers and the subscribers they all become The Beagle. Many do believe that The Beagle has provided service in the field of community news as a community service and promotes sports, community service, health, education, arts, the environment. From that perspective The Beagle could qualify, as an individual, if represented by its editor. As a free on-line community focused news source for the thousands of readers The Beagle also qualifies for its professional accomplishment. If you do wish to go ahead with your nomination then I accept and would be happy to represent The Beagle and the wonderful community that it represents.
