What a perfect example of how the community can use the Batemans Bay CBD waterfront! Check out the fishing event this weekend at the Bay. It is one of NSW’s biggest competitions with countless adult and junior categories, with tens of thousands of dollars of prizes to give-away. Unfortunately it has gone under the radar with no promotion at all in the local Bay Post newspaper and there is no sign of any promotion by the Tourism Events team at the Council. Needless to say however this very family-oriented competition, celebrating recreational fishing just keeps getting bigger every year.
Family focused this awesome event ensures the first 150 registered juniors receive a competition bag worth $100 presenting a great family fun weekend during the school holidays.
Entertainment abounds including antics from Alistair McGlashan from Channel 9 television show Fish With Mates, raffles and give-aways on Saturday and Sunday, along with the Shimano Reef Science Show.
The fishing area for the weekend extends from Bendalong Point in the north to Bermagui in the south with competitors fishing from boats, kayaks, land or beach and can use bait, lure or fly.
Registrations for this year's event have closed however if you are keen to learn more and be kept in formed of upcoming events you can find more online at http://www.scmb.com.au
Come on down, check out the Australian Barramundi on display in the massive on site fish viewing tanks! Plus there are sponsors on site so you can talk to the experts.
