Shakespeare moves into the theatre...the next three months at the theatre will see a steady stream of ‘Macbeth’ rehearsals and some serious set building. Macbeth will be onstage in July through to August and follows on from the very successful and award winning A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ‘Macbeth’ cast and crew got together on Saturday to clean up the storage shed, commence the set build and do an initial read through of the script.
The Bay Theatre Players Young Adult workshops were well attended by an enthusiastic and creative bunch of people during term 1.
The group explored movement-based techniques from frantic tempo to dynamic stillness, to help them develop the ability to listen with their entire body and to take in and use everything around them. This will enable them, as actors, to create a performance that is part of a collective - invaluable in building the connections of an ensemble. They also looked at different scripts and play genres, brainstormed themes for a play and wrote a scene which they then brought to life on the stage. These workshops, and involvement in other theatre activities, help young people to determine the areas of creative performance art that is of interest to them.
