The shire’s residents are invited to comment on Eurobodalla Council’s planned projects, budgets, rates and charges for 2019-20.
Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes encouraged the community to have their say, whether that was a page of thoughts or a one-line email.
“If there’s something you love or something you loathe, we want to know,” she said.
Councillors on Tuesday 30 April endorsed for public exhibition the draft Delivery Program 2017-21 and Operational Plan 2019-20 for 28 days, until 28 May. A standalone draft Fees and Charges 2019-20 is also on exhibition. Clr Innes said the draft plan had plenty of information of interest to the community.
“For example, page 63 has charts which show where our estimated $119 million income will come from and where we’ll spend the estimated $115 million. This is followed by a breakdown of income and operating expenses for each of the different Council services,” she said.
“Council manages more than $1.6 billion worth of community infrastructure, page 23 lists what all those assets are.”
Clr Innes said that in addition Council’s budgets and rates, the draft plan outlined Council’s plan of action for the next financial year.
“Continuing programs include $9.6 million for the Moruya Airport redevelopment so we can meet long-term passenger needs and encourage more business to the shire, and, of course, roads will continue to be a priority with a $29.8 million spend on our local transport network,” she said.
“The shire’s businesses can expect flow-on effects from the new tourism campaign – a collaboration between Council and Destination NSW – which launches in August.
“We’ve already met our previous target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25 per cent by 2020, so we’ve set a more ambitious target – an 80 per cent reduction by 2030.
“Plus, there’s further work at the Moruya Showground and $378,000 for new pathways across the shire. There’s a lot more – it really is worth a look.”

At the end of the public exhibition period Councillors will be provided with all submissions for their consideration prior to adoption of the plan by 30 June 2019.
