MIKE BIRKS WINS VETS GOLF STROKE & PUTTS EVENT
Despite the coolish start to the morning a good field of 54 players registered for this morning's Stroke and Putts event. Outright winner on the day was Club President Mike Birks with a great score of 30 strokes nett, effectively 6 under handicap. Mike was followed home by Kathy Crossling with a nett 31, and Noel Fletcher with a 32 on count back from Gayle Macalpine. Balls or chocolates were won by Teri Swanbury on 33, Richard Wharton on 34, Ian Wratten on 35, and the following players all on 36 - Ted Quinlan, Ann Ware, Ian Manton, Ross Macalpine, Richard Kelly, Jeanette Miller, and finally Vets Captain Ian Miller.
Richard Kelly won the putting competition with 13 putts on count back from Gayle Macalpine with the same number. This week's Bradman award was a closely fought duel between two players with Solveig Olsson drawing the short straw for the award. Nearest the pins were won by Mike Birks on the 4th, Dorothy Madden on the 6th, and Leonie Snodgrass and Ian Manton on the 7th. Kathy Crossling won the Accuracy drive.
