Narooma region residents can have a say on future planning for Narooma Flat at a street stall on Wednesday 5 June.
Eurobodalla Council is developing a series of integrated plans for the area, with a focus on the Crown land on the foreshore east and west of the highway, as well the Bill Smyth Oval reserve and NATA Oval/swimming and leisure centre precinct.
Above: Planning underway by Eurobodalla Council will guide the development and management of a large swathe of Narooma’s public land, including Bill Smyth Oval (pictured).
The project will identify long and short-term opportunities to help the area reach its potential as an attractive and functional space for businesses, sport and recreation groups, residents and visitors.
It includes developing a masterplan to guide the future development of the area to benefit tourism and stimulate economic activity, a suite of landscape masterplans that map current and future infrastructure, and an updated plan of management – a mandatory tool used to manage Crown land.
Together the plans will guide budget allocations and help attract grant funding to invest in tourism, sport and recreation for the Narooma community.
Council is now seeking feedback on draft concepts and ideas, which are based on existing plans and early consultation with user groups and businesses.

Community members can have their say at a street stall on Wednesday 5 June, from 11.30am-1.30pm, in front of the Narooma Bakery (42 Princes Highway, Narooma). A survey seeking feedback on how community members and visitors use the public spaces and what improvements they’d like to see in the future will also be available via Council’s website www.esc.nsw.gov.au/haveyoursay from Wednesday 5 June.
Council’s consultants will also host workshops with user groups and identified stakeholders in the evening of Tuesday 4 June. To express interest in participating, email Council’s Senior Recreation Planner Emma Gorny at emma.gorny@esc.nsw.gov.au
