PerfEx inc.
Once upon a time there was a small seaside town. It had playing fields and shops, a cinema, two clubs, a golf course, a library, a mini University campus, a small theatre and even a skate park.
What it didn’t have was an ARTS space where creative minds could gather and share their craft and ideas. Groups formed. In homes and rented premises artists plied their craft and ‘soldiered on’.
Then a group decided, as the town blossomed, it was high time an ARTS hub was created. In 2007 they formed a group: PERFEX inc, which stood for PERFORMANCE/EXHIBITION. Their mission was:
"To bring to completion the construction of a centre for the performing and visual arts, to meet the current and future needs of the Batemans Bay Community"
Now, in 2019, PERFEX inc. is still going strong, still advocating for a Performance/Exhibition space for the Batemans Bay and Shire community. Working with Council, Business and the general Community, the facility is at last underway, in the design stage, with funds allocated, and a site decided.
There is still a lot of work to do and PERFEX keeps soldiering on, lobbying for inclusions that suit the community, and to keep present assets so the whole community is well resourced for the future.
