SOLVEIG OLSSON BEATS THE FIELD AT VETS STROKE AND PUTTS EVENT
Despite the cool morning start a good field of 62 players teed off for the Stroke and Putts event. Winner on the day with a fine score of 31 strokes nett was Solveig Olsson. She was followed home by Neil Mather on 32 and Chris Wratten on 33 after a three way count back. Stephen Crossling finished fourth, also on 33. Balls or chocolates were won by Frank Pomfret on 33, Noel Fletcher and Des Jackson on 34, Terry Challender and Allen Lee on 35, and the final group of Derek Hoare, Ann Ware, Barry Hoban and David Williams on 36.
Herb Muriwai took out the putting honours with 13 putts, but only after a 5 way count back was required to determine the overall winner. Geoff Bellingham won the Bradman award whilst nearest the pins went to Kay McLeod on the 4th, Greg Smith on the 6th, and Teri Swanbury and Peter McRae on the 7th. Terry Lunn was this week's Accuracy award recipient.
