A Pooh and Piglet conversation

Writer's picture: The BeagleThe Beagle

Piglet : Pooh, what causes bushfires?

Pooh  : Bushfires have many causes Piglet. When the bush is very dry and the temperatures are very high and the wind is very strong and the humidity is very low, lightning strikes and other natural ignitions can begin fires that might burn for days. Climate Change is believed to create these dangerous conditions more often than earlier years.

Piglet : What is Climate Change?

Pooh  : That’s easy Piglet. The climate changes when the planet begins a cycle of increasing warming or decreasing warming. At the moment the planet is warming faster than normal because there are more and more harmful gases in the atmosphere. Some politicians don’t agree.

Piglet  : Pooh, what is a politician?

Pooh: A politician is someone who lacks the competence to recognise their own low level of competence and also lacks the competence to recognise the higher level of competence of the majority of climate scientists.

Piglet : You are very clever Pooh.
