Eurobodalla’s Photographic Club’s February meeting was well attended, and a few new members were welcomed.
The club’s recent photography display at the Batemans Bay library was positively received by the public. The range of images highlighted the diverse range of interests and skills of club members. Exhibitions are a great way for club members to showcase their work and for the public to enjoy and appreciate this artform.
Another highlight was two of our member’s images were recognised in the Australian Photography Awards. Phil Warburton’s photos were highly commended in the Australian Photographer of the Year. The group of his four photos was called “Australian Native Pollinators”. Club member, Beth Westra’s photos were selected within the Top 30.
This month’s competition was judged by photographer, Robyn Georges, on images relating to the topic ‘Marine’. Many of the 40 submitted images highlighted the beauty of our local marine life and environment, and different ways we interact with the sea. The judge emphasised the importance of a few themes, particularly with post-production such as cropping, removing shadows and background distractions, and toning down bright spots in the scene.
The meeting also included a presentation by club member, Merrick, who presented a series of photos from ‘around the home’, which included some great photos of family members and pets engaged in everyday life Club member, Colin Pass, also gave a presentation about his lifelong photography journey, which showcased some memorable photos.
