Honour our Fallen 2020

Writer's picture: The BeagleThe Beagle

Even under these difficult circumstances and the restrictions they bring, the annual ANZAC Day "Honour our Fallen" memorial has gone ahead, with some modifications to its usual format.

If things were as they should be, 3 or 4 days before ANZAC day, a small army of students from Moruya High School would place an Australian National flag on every known resting place or memorial plaque of every veteran, ex serviceman or woman, in the Moruya Cemetery. Likewise students from Carroll College would do the same at the Broulee Memorial Gardens.

Unfortunately, and for obvious reasons, this couldn't happen this year, so the area coordinators for "Honour our Fallen", Rob and Sandy Patterson, placed all the flags themselves. In order to comply with the present rules, they used the excuse of "Exercising" to spend quite a few hours in both cemeteries.

Should anyone be visiting either the cemetery or the gardens over the next few days they'll notice more than 200 Australian Flags honouring our veterans.

To have an Australian Flag erected on your veterans grave or memorial on commemorative days, go to http://honourourfallen.com/ and complete a flag request form or email info@honourourfallen.com
