House fire at Newth Place, Wimbie Beach

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 217 Batemans Bay post: "Earlier today all 3 of our appliances responded to reports of a house fire in Surf Beach alongside Surf Beach Rural Fire Brigade, Malua Bay Rural Fire Brigade, NSW RFS - Batemans Bay Brigade , Fire and Rescue NSW Station 384 Moruya, NSW Ambulance and South Coast Police District. "Once our Rescue Pump got closer to the scene, large volumes of smoke and flames were seen issuing through the roof of a single level home. Our crew in breathing apparatus instantly got to work assisted by further breathing apparatus operators from Surf Beach and Batemans Bay RFS. "Through a combined effort the fire was quickly brought under control. Crews spent several hours ensuring hot spots were extinguished before departing the scene. "A large “debrief” was held post incident to ensure we continue to work well together at any incidents in the future. Our thoughts are with the property owner".

"Well done to our members Deputy Captain Graeme Skelton, Equipment Officer Buggsy Blake, Treasurer Michael Lane, Ray Markham and Wayne Dawson for responding to a structure fire this afternoon in Surf Beach. "Our crew assisted Batemans Bay Fire & Rescue, Surf Beach and Batemans Bay RFS Brigades. Our thoughts are with the unfortunate residents of the property and anyone else affected by the fire".
