The Tuross Head Progress Association conducted their Meet The Candidates forum at Kyla Hall on March 6th where candidates attended a question and answer forum for the upcoming State election to be held on 25th March 2023.
Attending were left to right Cathy Griff , Dr Michael Holland, Karin Geiselhart, and Jeffrey Hawkins.
Noticeably absent was Russell Fitzpatrick
The forum was well organised by the Tuross Head Progress Association with questions sought from the community.
The forum itself was fairly lack-lustre in what it revealed which was principally that the seat, if won by one of the main parties would be carried along by the ideologies of the visionaries and that we would inevitably do as we were told. The Greens candidate spoke of local potential 'solutions' but to those in the room it was clear that these would have to be first ratified by the Green Overlords, as too would be the case with Labor.
It was unfortunate that the Liberal candidate wasn't present as he too has been little more than a sock-puppet paraphrasing the policies of his controllers. Oddly, being the Mayor of a council that is in financial difficulties the Liberal candidate has said very little that would be deemed critical of the current State Government who have been quite absent in the Bega electorate other than at election time.
Independent candidate Jeffrey Hawkins came ill prepared for many of the questions asked which was unfortunate.
The shining light of the forum was Karin Geiselhart of Sustainable Australia who cut through the politics and described her quest was a science and evidence-based policy platform aimed at finding sustainable solutions to address Australia's growing economic, environmental and social problems.
Alas, even though her presentations and responses spoke of protecting the environment, stopping overdevelopment and first and foremost stopping corruption it will only be the few who might dare to think that politics as we know it in Australia would allow such optimism.
Have a listen to the forum (apologies for the sound - it could have been better) and see what you think of the candidates, their responses and whether they satisfied your own questions.
