Environmental assessments
The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) to inform the alignment and construction of the Murramarang South Coast Walk was available for comment in July and August 2020 alongside the master plan which was finalised earlier this year.
The purpose of a Review of Environmental Factors describes the proposed activity, documents the likely impacts of the proposed activity on the environment and details safeguard and mitigation measures to be implemented.
In September 2021, the Biodiversity and Conservation Division of the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment considered the public submissions and recommended that the activity outlined in the REF proceed, subject to conditions.
The conditions of approval include, the requirement for a Construction Environment Management Plan, a Visitor Monitoring Program a Threatened Shorebird Monitoring Plan, and an Operation Environmental Management Plan be developed to address the recommendations of the REF.
See the final Review of Environmental Factors and the Determination Notice and on the website for further information.
Construction update
Initial construction work is expected to commence in the coming months, and we will keep you informed when this begins. The priority construction works will be to reinstate the walking track areas near Pretty Beach that were impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires.
