SENATE INQUIRY into GP shortages- Extension granted for Community submission.

Federal Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, has been successful in obtaining an extension of time for her Community submission before the Senate Inquiry into GP shortages. Mrs Phillips saying, "I was front and centre in Labor’s backing for this inquiry and with well over 1,000 people contacting my Office, providing their firsthand account, and with formal submissions closing at the end of September, I felt this extension crucial to ensuring all

voices could be heard." “The GP shortage issue in my electorate is at crisis point! We need practical, positive solutions to make sure Australians have access to quality health care regardless of

where they live.” Within the Terms of Reference, the Senate Inquiry is to review the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on doctor shortages. "The pandemic has shown how important it is to have access to quality health care. Residents of Gilmore have been battling a critical lack of GPs for far too long. More than ever, we need to support our GP’s and health workers. Continuing to add your voice to this fight for more GPs for our region will make a huge difference." Mrs Phillips said.
